MHS Allicance Companies Unite to Foster Greater Product Interoperability in
Electronic Messaging
BOSTON, MA -- January 11, 1993 -- Nearly two dozen independent software
developers will announce their unification as the MHS Alliance at NetWorld
Boston. While many Alliance members have worked together for years to improve
product interoperability, its formation signals a committed effort to ensure
the highest degree of NetWare MHS-based software interoperability among
different vendors. Currently, NetWare MHS- enjoys strong developer support
because of its cost-effectiveness, broad functionality and open developer
interface.
The group's first event, the MHS Alliance Solutions Expo, will be held
on Wednesday, January 13, 1993 from 6-9 p.m. at University Hall in the
Marriott Copley, Boston. Nineteen Alliance members will display their
products using a NetWare Global MHS- (Formerly, NetWare Global Messaging)
backbone. Participating members include Action Technologies, Baranof
Software, Beyond, Campbell Services, CE Software, Castelle, Central Point
Software, Cheyenne, CompuServe, Computer Mail Services, Da Vinci Systems,
Futurus, Infinite Technologies, Lantec, Microsystems, Notework, Optus,
PowerCore, Reach Software, StarNine Technologies, Transend, Wingra and
Workframe.
"The MHS Alliance is another example showing how Novell and its partners work
together to meet customer needs," said Kanwal Rekhi, executive vice president
of the Interoperability Systems Group for Novell, Inc. "This collaboration
effort will help to further strengthen the messaging industry."
Alliance members include some of the best known and most decorated products in
electronic messaging including CE Software's QuickMail, Da Vinci Systems
Corporation's eMAIL, and Beyond Incorporated's BeyondMail. Member products
have won prestigious awards and have been consistently ranked among the best
electronic mail, scheduling and fax services.
"The Alliance was a natural development for all of us," said John Rizzi, vice
president of sales for Notework Corporation and one of the founders of the
Alliance. "Customers want to see greater interoperability and manageability
between their messaging products."
The Alliance seeks to grow the messaging industry by raising the
interoperability, quality and visibility of SMF products through the joint
cooperative efforts of MHS developers. Membership is open to all vendors of
NetWare SMF-based products.
